Coronavirus

Dear Blake,

We are living through the weirdest, scariest, hardest time in history. Friday March 13 the Governor announced that all schools in Illinois would be canceled until March 30th because of the coronavirus that has been spreading throughout the world. Since then it has been extended until April 7th. We have had to work and do school from home. Everyday we wake up and do E-learning activities. We also are trying to do fun things with you at home. So far we have painted, baked, played in the snow, played games, etc. We are even seeing Papa and Gigi and others on the porch because we don’t want the sickness to accidentally spread to others. I hope that this ends soon, but this will definitely go down in history.

Christmas 2019

Dear Blake,

We had a great Christmas season! We got two weeks off of school and work and we did all sorts of fun things. We hosted Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at our house with all of our families. On Christmas morning you opened up presents and got Pokemon cards and DS games and all sorts of fun toys! We got to celebrate New Years and go ice skating and bowling!

I’m also proud of you for making your first reconciliation!

I’m glad we got 2 weeks to be together everyday!

Halloween 2019

Dear Blake,

This year you dressed up as Ash from Pokemon. You had a Halloween party at school and when we all got home we went trick or treating! It was so cold out and it was snowing! We had food made by Gigi and we counted our candy with Papa. Brandon and Tammy and Abby and Grandma Sandy were there too. It was a great day!

Mama

2nd Grade

Dear Blake,

Yesterday was your first day of 2nd grade.  You have Mrs. Brennan.  You got to go to your walk through of the school with Papa and he took you to see your teacher and classroom.  You get to go on the bus with all the boys and it seems like you like school!  I’m so I couldn’t go with you and I miss you when I’m at work.  I can’t believe you’re in 2nd grade!

Love,

Mama

Soon to be 2nd grader

Dear Blake,

How can you be done with 1st grade?  You just finished your last day of 1st grade and you did so well!  You got good grades and did a great job!  You are already talking about being a 2nd grader but for now we are going to enjoy our summer together!

Love,

Mama

7

Dear Blake,

‚Äč7 seems so big…7 seems so old…6 wasn’t so bad, but 7?  How can this be?  It seems like yesterday that we were waiting a week later than my due date to meet you.  I had the shingles and just couldn’t wait another minute for you to be born.  You came into this world with family and friends waiting all day to meet you.  Since then my life has been changed so much for the better!  Time is just flying by but I’m grateful for every minute.  I love you so much and I want to slow down time.  You’re growing up too fast!  Happy birthday to the one who made me a Mama…our little Blakey!

You and Owen also had a big splash pad party for your birthdays.  We had a monster truck theme with tire cups and a cool Monster truck cake!  We had a bunch of kids come and it was great!

Mama

Growing up fast

Dear Blake,

There has been so many things happening!  You lost your second tooth!  I can’t believe you are growing up so fast.  You started playing baseball.  Dada is helping coach your team, the Houston Astros.  You also finished cub scouts and had your last meeting.  Tomorrow you will become a Wolf!  1st grade is almost over and I can’t believe you are going to be in 2nd grade.  I went to your school for a Mothers Day event.  It was so nice to be there!  You made me all sorts of cute things and we watched a video your teacher made.

I love you,

Mama

Lost tooth!

Dear Blake,

You recently lost your first tooth!  At first you told me you were one of the only people to not have a loose tooth.  Then you told me one day you had a loose tooth on the bottom. So exciting!  It took about 2 weeks for it to come out.  You got off the bus the other day and you were crying because you lost your tooth at school.  I think you were in shock.  The nurse gave you a little box to keep it in.  We put it under your pillow and you got $5 and a chocolate bar!  A few days later you started getting another loose tooth!

Pinewood Derby

Dear Blake,

You had your first pinewood derby for Cub Scouts this weekend.  You made a car with Papa Mike that looked like El Toro Loco!  You did a great job making it.  We went to test it the day before, and then we went to the race.  You placed 4th in your age group.  We were all so happy that we could come watch.

Love,

Mama
