So big

Dear Blake,

Ever since Owen was born, you seem so big to me.  People tried to tell me this was going to happen but I couldn’t see it until Owen was born.  The night before he was born, I was at home rocking you to sleep and getting ready to go to the hospital and you were my little baby.  I rocked you to sleep and did all our usual night time routines.  I cherished every second and soaked it all in, knowing this would be the last time doing this with you as an only child.  Then Owen was born and you came to the hospital and I could see it.  I could see what everyone was talking about.  I could see how you were so big.  So big compared to this new baby that would be a part of our lives from now on.  You were not my little baby anymore.  It has been making me so emotional.  Slowly I know it will get better, but right now I just get so emotional knowing that you are not the little baby anymore.  I love you so much and you will always be our first baby!

Love,

Mama

Tball

Dear Blake,

Last week you started playing on a tball team.  Well it’s not really a team, but more of a practice once a week with other kids your age.  You get a little hat and t-shirt and you look so cute wearing them.  You play so nice with the other kids and you really know how to hit the ball and run the bases.  Papa and Gigi taught you a lot about how to play before you started, so when you started playing with the team, you already knew a lot about what to do when they were teaching you.  Who knows?  Maybe one day you will be a baseball player!

Mama

Big Brother

Dear Blake,

You are now officially a big brother!  Your brother was born on June 29th at 2:10 pm.  His name is Owen Terance Johnson.  He weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz. and was 21 in. long.  The moment you came to the hospital was a moment I will never forget.  We put you to be on Sunday night and went to the hospital so Mama could have the baby.  When you came to the hospital the next day, Owen was born.  Two Gigi’s were watching you and brought you to the hospital.  You had your “Big Brother” shirt on and you were carrying a flower and balloon for Mama.  Then you came up to Owen and gave him a bear, just like your Lil Bear.  You said you wanted him to have a bear just like you.  You were so nice to him and kissed him on the head and you learned his name.  You sat on the hospital bed with Mama and took lots of pictures holding him.  It’s a moment I will never forget.  Our family is now a family of 4.

Love,

Mama
