Gigi

Dear Blake,

There is a person in your life who is as equally special to you as Papa…her name is Gigi (pronounced Gee-gee).  She is your grandma.  She is such an amazing Mom to me and grandma to you.

First, she had worked downtown for over 30 years, taking the train day after day.  When you were born, she retired from her job so she could watch you 3 days a week.  How amazing is that?  If she hadn’t done that, you would have had to go in daycare and we didn’t want to have you go there.  She retired just to take care of you and be with you and help us out.  She won’t let us pay her, she won’t take any sort of payment.  Every now and then I will buy her a gift certificate or bring her a coffee in the morning for helping us.

I wish there was a way to say thank you.  I wish there was a way to repay her.  There is not, but I’m so thankful for her help and for everything she does for you and for everyone.

She doesn’t know this yet (and maybe she will once she reads this post), but on the Kelly and Michael show in the mornings, they have a contest for Outstanding Moms.  I wrote in and recommended her to win!  They announce the winners on Monday.  I really hope she wins because she really is a Mom who goes above and beyond to help out everyone else.  She barely does things for herself.

You are very lucky to have a Gigi like her.

Love,

Mama
